Multi-Channel Surround Setup
Sound Surround Enjoying
For the best possible surround sound all speakers should be the same distance from the listening position (A). Ideal placement of the rear speakers is at the side of the listening position in the region within the shaded area shown in the illustration below. Even when speakers cannot all be placed at equal distances from the listening position, it is possible to place speakers (including the sub woofer) at a distances of 1 ~ 12 m (3 ~ 40 feet) from the listening position. If this is the case, by accurately setting the distance of each speaker, the amplifier can automatically adjust the audio output to produce an ideal surround sound effect.

Depending on the shape of your room (etc.), you may wish to place the rear speakers behind you instead of on the side walls (the shaded area). One advantage of this placement is that you can use a pair of large floor standing speakers that match your front speakers.

Note
If you place the rear speakers behind you, be sure to check the speaker location setting in the SP SETUP menu when using any of the “VIRTUAL” sound fields (see pages 20, 23 and 24 for details).
Notes
•The difference in distance of the nearest and farthest speakers from the listening position should not exceed 8.4 m (27 feet).
•When mounting rear speakers at the sides of the listening position, ideal speaker height is about 60 ~ 90 cm (2 ~ 3 feet) above ear height.
