Definesone or more new charactemand stores them in RAM for later use. EDS switchA-2 must be set to “RAMDOWNLOAD”;oth- erwise RAMisusedas aninputbuffer,notdownloadingcharacters, and this commandis ignored.

nl is the charactercode of the first characterdefinedand n2 is the charactercodeof the last characterdefined.n] mustbe equalto or less than n2.

Thedataforeachcharacterstartwiththreebytesspecifyingpropor- tionalspacingattributes:the first byte,mO,specifies the left of the charactec the secondbyte, ml, specifiesthe characterwidth; the third byte,m2, specifiesthe rightof the character.

Thesevaluesmust not exceedthe followingmaximumlimits:

Nextcomesthedotdata.Normalcharacterheightis24 dots,sothere mustbe 3 x ml bytesof dotdata. If the printeris in super/subscript mode,however,thecharacterheightis 16dots,sotheremustbe 2 x ml bytes of dot data. Eachdatabyteindicateseightverticaldots,withthemostsignificant bit beingthe top dot, and the least significantbit beingthe bottom dot.
