ONLINE button

The I ON LINE I button sets the printer on-lineand off-line.The status changeseach time you pressthe button.

Whentheprinteris on-line,it cannxeive andprintdatafromthe computer. Whentheprinteris off-line,it stopsprintingandsendsthecomputera signal indicatingthat it cannotacceptdata.

Theprinterpowersup in the on-linestatusif paperis loaded.If paperis not loaded, the printer powers up off-line with the “PAPER OUT” message blinking.When you load paper,the printergoeson-line.

You will wantto pressthe L ONLINE I button:

●Beforeand after any otherpaneloperation

The other panel buttons operate only in the off-line state. PESS the

ONLINE 1 button to go off-line. After performing the panel operation(s),press the I ONLINE ] buttonagainto go back on-line.

To pauseduringprinting

If you press the I ON LINE ] buttonduringprinting,the printerstops printingandgoesoff-line,allowingyouto checkthe printoutor change a control panel setting. Printing resumes when you press the

I ONLINE I buttonagainto go back on-line.

To cut fanfoldforms at the end of printing

Whenyouhold the I ONLINE I buttondownfor one secondwiththe pushtractormode,thepnntergoesoff-lineanddisplaysthe’’SHORTTEAR- OFF’: message,then the printer also feeds the paper forward approxi- matelytwoinchesforward.Thisallowsyouto cutitoffjustbelowthelast line printed.

Whenyou pms the I ONLINE i buttonagainto go backon-line,the paper feedsbackwardstoppingwhereyou left off.

NOTE: This functionis validonly whenthe buffer is empty.

PAPERFEED button

If youpressthisbuttonwhileoff-line,thepaperwillfeedforward.Ifyouhold the buttondown,the printerwill performconsecutiveline feeds.

If you also press the [ ONLINE J buttonwhile you me line-feeding,the paperwill feed automaticallyto the top of the next page.This is explained later.
