Withthisprinteryoucancmatenewcharactersandsymbols,downloadtheir dot data,andhavethemprintedin placeof selectedcharactersin the regular characterset. Charactersthatcanbegeneratedinthiswayrangefromsimple but useful symbolslike the check mark through to complex Chinese or Japanesecharacters.

Regularcharactemam permanentlystoredin the printer’sROM, but char- actersyou designare downloadedand stoti in RAM for use.

Beforeyoustartto defineyourowncharacters,youmustsettheEDS switch A-2 to “RAM DOWNLOAD”.

Otherwise,the RAM is used to store the input buffer, and the download commandsare ignored.
