audio digital cable:from the connector and connect it firmly as shown on the drawing.

2. Keep the dust protection cap and always reattach the cap when not using the connector, to protect against dust.

*The type of audio output from the connector you can select during the set-up procedure (see page 25).

**The player converts sound having 96 kHz sampling, into 48 kHz sampling before it is output from the unit's optical / coaxial digital audio output connector.

Linear PCM is a signal recording format used in CDs. While CDs are recorded in 44.1 kHz /

16 bit, DVDs are recorded in 48 kHz / 16 bit up to 96 kHz / 24 bit.

This player's digital audio (optical and coaxial) output jacks:

fully comply with the international standard governing this type of jack (IEC 958). They are designed exclusively for connection to a Dolby Digital (AC-3) or MPEG2 audio receiver or a suitable decoder.

Do not use ...

the Digital Audio Output jacks to connect to an equipment other than a Dolby Digital (AC-3) or MPEG 2 receiver or a suitable decoder.

Such a connection can create a high level of noise that may be harmful to your ears, and could damage headphones or speakers. Older digital equipment, some of which is not fully compliant with IEC 958, is likely to cause this problem.

The same should be applied with the so-called "optical or coaxial REC.OUT jack" of Dolby Digital (AC-3) decoders, when they are connected to this DVD player. Since REC.OUT is a 1:1 copy of the decoder's input, no other equipment should be connected there.
