The use of fully qualified domain names is:
• Mandatory when the WAN ports are in rollover mode (Figure5-2 on page 5-3); also required
for the VPN tunnels to fail over.
• Mandatory when the WAN ports are in load balancing mode and the IP addresses are dynamic
(Figure 5-3 on page 5-3)
• Optional when the WAN ports are in load balancing mode if the IP addresses are static
(Figure 5-3 on page 5-3)
For instructions on how to select and configure a dynamic DNS service for resolving your FQDNs,
see “Configuring Dynamic DNS (Optional)” on page 2-17.
