SENSOR MODE

The VX-8Ralways displays the “Battery Voltage” and “Current Time” while the VX-8Ris operating in the “Mono” band mode with the Large characters, the VX-8Rcan display various information provided by internal sensors. Available se-

lections are “Battery Voltage”, “Temperature”, “Audio Wave- form”, “Current Barometric Pressure”, “Current Altitude”, and “off”.

The Barometric Pressure sensor requires calibration of the “offset” parameters, so that differences in pressure can be used to calculate altitude. This procedure requires that you have a calibrated barometer, and that you know your current altitude. If you are at sea level, of course, the latter parameter requires no research.

The Sensor mode is only displayed while the VX-8R is operating in the Mono band mode with the Large characters. The internal sensor takes measurements continuously unless the Sensor mode is disabled.

To display the sensor information:

1.Press and hold the key for one second to enter the Set Mode.

2.Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 84: SEN-

SOR DISPLAY.

3.Press the key briefly to enable adjustment of this Set

Mode Item.

4.Rotate the DIAL knob to select the sensor mode you wish to display. DC: Indicates the battery voltage and bat-

tery type.
