Setting a Timecode Offset
A timecode offset relative to the external timecode source can be set using the TC Offset
function. Plus values retard the D24, minus ones advance it. With an offset of
+00:05:00.00.0 (+ 5 minutes), for example, an external timecode value of 01:00:00.00.0
(1 hour) will correspond to 01:05:00.00.0 (1 hour and 5 minutes) on the D24.
1Press the [SETUP] button.
The SETUP indicator lights up.
2Use the JOG/DATA dial to select “TC OFFSET,” and then press the [ENTER]
button.
The currently set offset, if any, appears on the display.
3Use the JOG/DATA dial to specify an offset.
An offset can also be entered using the keypad. Use the [CANCEL] button to revert to
the previous value, and the [0/-] button to toggle between plus and minus values.
The timecode offset can be set from –23:59:59.29.9 to +23:59:59.29.9 (23 hours, 59
minutes, 59 seconds, 29 frames, and 9 sub-frames). The default setting is 00:00:00.00.0.
To use the current time as the offset value, press the [CAPTURE] button to copy it to
the 2nd line of the display.
4Press the [ENTER] button to activate your selection, or the [CANCEL] button
to cancel the TC Offset function.
5Press the [SETUP] button again to leave setup.
The SETUP indicator goes out.
The following illustration shows how minus and plus offsets of one minute retard and
advance a project relative to an external timecode source. The project’s absolute start
time is 00:00:00.00 and the timecode frame rate is 30 fps.
