Procedure

NOTE:

A diagnostic tachometer should be used for this procedure.

1)Start the engine and allow it to warm up fully in Neutral until it is running smooth- ly.

If the outboard is mounted on a boat, be sure the boat is tightly moored.

2)Adjust the throttle stop-screw to set the

q

idling speed to specification (see

“SPECIFICATIONS”) by turning the

stop-screw clockwise to increase the

idling speed, and turning it counterclock-

wise to decrease the idling speed.

NOTE:

Correct idling-speed adjustment is only pos-

sible if the engine is fully warmed-up. If not

warmed up fully, the speed setting will tend to be too high.

If you have difficulty obtaining the specified idle, consult a Yamaha dealer or other qualified mechanic.
