Mobile Board Features

Wireless LAN Support

The Mobile Board provides support for a Wireless LAN via the onboard PCI Express Mini Card connectors. Both full-mini and half-mini cards are supported (refer to “Installing a Wireless LAN Card” on page 57 for installation instructions). Wireless connectivity can be provided by Intel® PRO/Wireless network connection cards. The Intel PRO/Wireless network connection provides deployment flexibility and connectivity convenience by offering a choice of products including a tri-mode (supporting 802.11a/g/n) product.

Bluetooth* Technology Support

The Mobile Board includes a Bluetooth USB connector to support a Bluetooth module installed in the notebook chassis. The Bluetooth module must have the following features:

•Self-contained antenna

•Support for USB selective suspend

•Coexistence with the Wireless LAN adapter

•Able to be completely disabled by the Mobile Board BIOS

Modem Support

The Mobile Board supports a 56K Modem by providing the following:

•Onboard modem-only Motherboard Daughter Card (MDC) 1.5 connector

•MDC mounting standoffs

•RJ-11 connector

Microphone Support

Intel Mobile Board MGM45WU supports analog and digital microphones. An analog microphone (see Figure 1, D) is located on the Mobile Board under the notebook keyboard cover. An optional digital array microphone can be installed in the lid of the notebook. The Mobile Board BIOS setup has a microphone selection option to allow the user to select either an analog or digital microphone. Only one microphone type can be used at a time.
