Appendix G: Installing the Router Without a Mechanical Lift
Removing the Fan Tray
In the rear of the chassis, the fan tray is located on the right of the chassis. The fan tray weighs about 4.2 lb (1.9 kg).
To remove the fan tray (see Figure 66 on page 189 ):
1.Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. For more information about ESD, see “Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage” on page 130.
2.Loosen the captive screw on each side of the fan tray faceplate.
3.Grasp both sides of the fan tray and pull it out approximately 1 to 3 inches.
4.Place one hand under the fan tray to support it and pull the fan tray completely out of the chassis.

Removing SCBs
The router can have two SCBs. They are located horizontally on the bottom front of the chassis in the slots marked 0 and 1/0. Each SCB weighs approximately
9.6 lb (4.4 kg).
To remove the SCBs (see Figure 67 on page 190):
1.Place an electrostatic bag or antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
2.Attach an electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist and connect the strap to one of the ESD points on the chassis. For more information about ESD, see “Preventing Electrostatic Discharge Damage” on page 130.
3.Loosen the captive screws on the ejector handles on both sides of the SCB faceplate.
