1.Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

2.Remove the hinge cover (see Removing the Hinge Cover).

3.Remove any installed media bay device (see XBay Devices).

4.Remove the keyboard (see Keyboards).

5.Remove the display assembly (see Removing the Display Assembly).

6.Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest).

7.Remove the processor thermal-cooling assembly (see Removing the Processor Thermal- Cooling Assembly).

8.Remove the 3 M3 x 4-mm screws that secure the fan to the base.

1 Fan connector 2 Fan cable 3 Fan cable grommet 4 Fan 9. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board and remove the fan.

21.2Installing the Fan

1.Install the fan and attach to the base using the 3 M3 x 4-mm screws.

2.Attach the fan cable to the system board. Then attach the grommet on the fan cable to the cage enclosure.

3.Replace the processor thermal-cooling assembly (see Installing the Processor Thermal-Cooling Assembly).

4.Replace the palm rest (see Installing the Palm Rest).

NOTE: Ensure that you reconnect the coin-cell battery (see Coin-Cell Battery) before you replace the keyboard.
