Configuring the Personal Computer

This portion of the procedure will set up the Personal Computer based on the CodeWriter 4500 Series factory default settings. (If changes have been made in the printer’s default I/O Configuration parameters, please make the corresponding changes in the following procedure)

Windows 95/98/NT4.0 Configuration

1.Bring up the Control Panel window using the Start Menu (Start

Settings Control Panel).

2.Open the System icon in the Control Panel.

3.Click on the Device Manager Tab, open the Ports (COM & LPT) sub- tree and select the COM port connected to the printer.

4.Click on Properties. This will open the Properties window for the selected COM port.

5.Click on the Port Settings Tab. Make any changes required according to Table 2.

6.Click OK in the Port Properties Window. Click OK in the System Properties Window.

MS-DOS Configuration

1.Enter the following command at the prompt:

MODE COMx:9600,n,8,1

(where x = the COM port number)
