1 Turn on the power of the playback component.

2Turn on the power of the receiver.

3Select the source you want to play- back.

Use the MULTI CONTROL buttons (or INPUT SELECT).

4Start playback of the component you selected in step 1.

1Press DVD/LD on the remote control or the front panel.

2Press SIGNAL SELECT (front panel) repeatedly to select DVD 5.1ch.

To cancel playback from the multichannel inputs, use the SIGNAL SELECT button to select a different input signal.

Selecting the multichannel analog inputs

If you have connected a decoder or a DVD player with multichannel analog outputs to this receiver (page 17), you must select the analog multichannel inputs for surround sound playback.

When playback from the multichannel inputs is selected, you can’t use the INPUT ATT, TONE, and MIDNIGHT/ LOUDNESS buttons, as well as the STAN- DARD, ADVANCED SURROUND, and STEREO/DIRECT sound modes.

When playback from the multichannel inputs is selected, only the volume and channel levels can be set.
