Lift Terminology

Introduction:

Braun NUVL Series lifts are ADA compliant and comply fully with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) specifications. The NUVL855RM24 is commercial oriented (intended for operation by an attendant).

Public Use NUVL lift models provide fully automatic op- eration of deploy (extend), up, down and stow (retract) lift functions. The NUVL855RM24 can be interfaced for fully au- tomatic operation of the power door system. Manual operating procedures are required for the shield handrails and interlock- ing belt.

Refer to the Lift Terminology Illustration for identification of lift components.

Basic lift operation procedures are identical for all NUVL Se- ries lift models. The operating instructions contained in this manual address the lift control switches and the correspond- ing lift functions. Operating procedures for the shield handrails and interlocking belt are provided. Instructions are provided for manual operation of the lift in event of power or equipment failure.

Terminology: Become familiar with the terminology that will be used throughout this manual.

Direction: The terms "left," "right," "inboard," and "outboard" will be used throughout this manual to indicate direction (as viewed from outside the vehicle looking directly at the lift). Refer to the Lift Terminology Illustra- tion for clarification of direction terms.
