CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK

The charger is powered by the supplied 9V, 210 mA AC adapter. Insert the supplied AC adapter's barrel plug into the DC IN 9V jack on the back of the charger. Route the cord through the strain relief slot and plug the adapter into a standard AC Outlet.

Be sure you have connected the battery pack as described in "Connecting and Charging the Battery Pack" on Page 9. Then place the handset on the charger. The CHARGE indicator on the charger lights. Total:0 and HS2 appear on the display while the handset is charging. Ô

The second handset supplied with 43-3898 is already registered at the factory so you do not need to register it. Other handset(s) must be registered before use. To register, simply place the handset on the base until you hear the confirmation tone. If you do not hear the confirmaion tone, register the handset again.

You can use the optional handset in the same way as the base handset with a few exceptions. The dialing mode and Caller ID settings are set by the base handset, except for the auto talk, area code, and Call Waiting Deluxe settings. All other menu settings (ringer volume and tone, distinctive ring, and display language) and memories (phonebook and one-touch speed dial) are independent and can be set as you like.

To turn Call Waiting Deluxe for the optional handset on or off: Ô

1.While the phone is on-hook, press MENU/ MUTE.

CAUTION

You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 9V DC and delivers at least 210 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit the phone's DC IN 9V jack. The supplied adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the handset or the adapter.
