Adding new handsets

Your telephone can accommodate up to four cordless handsets.You can add new hand- sets (E597-1, sold separately) to the E5926, E5927B, E5937B and E1937B at any time, but each handset must be registered with the base before use.

The handset provided with your E5926 is automatically registered as Handset 1. Additional handsets will be assigned numbers in the order they are registered (Handset 2, Handset 3, or Handset 4). You can register a maximum of 4 handsets.

The E5927B has 2 handsets automatically registered as Handset 1 and 2. You can regis- ter two additional handsets, which will be assigned number 3 and 4.

The E5937B/E1937B has 3 handsets automatically registered as Handset 1, 2 and 3. You can register one additional handset, which will be assigned number 4.

The E5947B has 4 pre-registered handsets, so you cannot register any additional hand- set to it.

Before using a new E597-1 handset, you must register it with the base.

To add a new handset:

When first purchased, all optional accessory hand- sets show NOT REGISTERED on the screen.

Make sure your handset battery is properly installed and charged.

Handset 4

Put the handset in a cradle which is plugged into AC power. After a few seconds “PRESS HNDST LOC 4 SEC ON BASE” will be shown on the screen.

Press and hold HANDSET LOCATOR on the main tele- phone base until the IN USE light comes on (about 4 seconds), then release the button.

The handset will show PLEASE WAIT... for a while.

The handset will show HS X REGISTERED and beep once if registration was successful.

NOTE: You can register only one handset to the base at a time.

NOTE: If you are on a call, using the Call Log or Directory, or another phone on the same line, you cannot register a handset.

NOTE: If the registration is not successful the display will show NOT REGISTERED. Reset the handset by lifting the handset out of the cra-

dle and then place the handset back in the cradle. Now try the registration pro- cess again. 43
