Making/Answering Calls

Temporary handset ringer off

While the handset is ringing for a call, you can turn the ringer off temporarily by pressing {i}.

Useful features during a call

Hold

This feature allows you to put an outside call on hold.

Melody on hold

If Hold melodyis turned on, the other party will hear the music during the hold. To turn this feature on/off, see page 22.

=Base unit

1Press {HOLD} during an outside call. L C flashes.

L If using the corded handset, you can place it on the cradle, and the phone is still kept being on hold.

2To release hold, press {HOLD}.

L A handset user can take the call by pressing

{C}.

Note:

L You will hear Hold melodyfrom the base unit speaker. Press {^} or {V} repeatedly to select the desired volume (off, high to low).

L After 10 minutes, the call will be disconnected. When the corded handset is off the cradle, the base unit beeps.

YHandset

1Press {HOLD}, then press {i} during an outside call.

L The {HOLD} key also functions as the {INTERCOM} key. When you press {HOLD}, the unit starts ringing to page the base unit. Press {i} after {HOLD} to stop paging and put the call on hold.

2To release hold, press {C}.

L The base unit user can take the call by lifting the corded handset or pressing {SP- PHONE}.

Note:

L The alarm tone will sound when you put the call on hold. After 10 minutes, the call will be disconnected.

Mute

While mute is turned on, you can hear the other party, but the other party cannot hear you.

=Base unit

1Press {MUTE} during a conversation. L Tis displayed.

2To return to the conversation, press {MUTE} again.

YHandset

1Press 1 during a conversation.

2To return to the conversation, press 1 again.

Flash

=Base unit / YHandset

{FLASH} allows you to use the special features of your host PBX such as transferring an extension call, or accessing optional telephone services.

Note:

L To change the flash time, see page 22.

For call waiting or Call Waiting Caller ID service users

To use call waiting, you must first subscribe to call waiting from your service provider/telephone company.

This feature allows you to receive calls while you are already talking on the phone. If you receive a call while on the phone, you will hear a call waiting tone.

If you subscribe to both Caller ID and Call Waiting with Caller ID services, the 2nd caller’s information is displayed after you hear the call waiting tone on the handset.

=Base unit / YHandset

1Press {FLASH} to answer the 2nd call.

2To switch between calls, press {FLASH}.
