2 Installation and discovery

Prerequisites for installing HP Insight Control for RHEV

The following are prerequisites for installing HP Insight Control for RHEV:

RHEV-M must be installed and configured. Refer to Red Hat's documentation for installation and configuration of RHEV-M.

The RHEV-M credentials used during configuration of RHEV-M will be needed.

The postgres password used during configuration of RHEV-M may be needed, depending on the authentication method selected for postgres (“pg_hba.conf”).

The RHEV-M reports package must be installed in order for the reporting functionality in HP Insight Control for RHEV to be installed and available.

The net-snmppackage must be installed in order to communicate with dependent module HP common services.

Installing and configuring HP Insight Control for RHEV

NOTE: The following installation procedures apply to both new installs as well as upgrades from a previous version of HP Insight Control for RHEV.

You must ensure that HP Insight Control for RHEV is installed on the (RHEV-M) management console. To install HP Insight Control for RHEV:

1.Unpack and install the HP Insight Control for RHEV packages:

[root@rhevm ~]# tar zxf hp-icrhev-x.x.x.x.tar.gz

[root@rhevm ~]# rpm -ivh hpcs-x.x.x.x-1.x86_64.rpm hpicrhev-x.x.x.x-1.x86_64.rpm

NOTE: The “U” option is required for an upgrade installation:

[root@rhevm ~]# tar zxf hp-icrhev-x.x.x.x.tar.gz

[root@rhevm ~]# rpm -Uvh hpcs-x.x.x.x-1.x86_64.rpm hpicrhev-x.x.x.x-1.x86_64.rpm
