2 System Board

Devices on the ISA Bus

Audio Controller

The HP Kayak XA PC Workstation has an audio chip (AD1816) integrated on the system board. This single chip is a Plug and Play multimedia audio subsystem for concurrently processing multiple digital streams of 16-bit stereo audio.

Host Interface

The AD1816 audio chip contains all necessary ISA bus logic on chip. This

 

logic includes address decoding for all onboards resources, control and signal

 

interpretation, DMA selection and control logic, IRQ selection and control

 

logic, and all interface configuration logic.
