c)Threading the upper thread

To pass in the upper thread, it is not necessary to open the front of the sewing machine. The illustration is for guidance only.

Pull out one of the two roll pins and put on a spool of thread.

You can put a felt pad under the spool of thread, to protect the machi- ne casing.

Pass the thread through the upper thread guide,

c) Threading the upper thread

then over the thumbwheel for the upper thread tension,

then under the tension spring,

then over the threading hook,

then through the thread guide to the needle, through the needle eye and finally under the back of the sew foot.
