Frame Processing and
Ethernet Statistics All frames on the Ethernet network are received promiscuously by an
Ethernet port. However, frames may be discarded for the following reasons:
There is no buffer space available.
The frame is in error.
Figure 7-1 shows the order in which these discard tests are made.
