Using the Sliding Load
When performing a sliding load calibration, it is recommended that the sliding ring be set
at the marked positions (rings) along the sliding load body. Using the set marks ensures
that a broad distribution of phase angles is selected, thereby optimizing the calibration.
The set marks function as detents so that the internal center of the slid ing ring can mate
with t hem. Because of this , the set m ark being used cannot be s een but is felt as the s liding
ring is moved fr om mark to mark during a calibration. Moving the sliding ring with only
the index f ingers of both hands will i ncrease your abi lity to det ect the slid ing ring det ent at
each position.
