D. PURPOSE OF EQUI PMENT
To provide the sold ier with the ability to obse rve at night
under moonlight and st arlight conditi ons. The ATN NVM-14
can be handheld, head mounted, helmet mounted or weapon
mounted to enable walking, driving, weapon fi ring, sh ort-
range surveillance, map re ading, vehicle maintena nce, and
administering first aid. The unit allows for horizontal and ver-
tical adjustments when hea d or helmet mounted and is also
equipped with an infrared light-emitting sourc e.
