Table 39 shows the data received from the J1939 bus highlighted in gray. The bytes (C,80,00,40) are the J1939 priority, reserve bit, data page, and PDU. The data field contains the data payload of the message and be from 0 to 8 bytes.

The message starts with 42 hex. The function code is 28 hex. This identifies the message as an internal message 2 and type 8. The J1938 Address field is set to 0. The Data field has an AA hex at either end. The data between is variable.
