DNS Server

1Press Menu/Set, 5, 1, 8 for MFC-3340CN/MFC-5840CN. (4, 1, 8 for FAX-1940CN/MFC-5440CN)

2Press or to select Primary or Secondary.

3Press Menu/Set.

4Enter the DNS Server address.

5Press Menu/Set.

6Press Stop/Exit.

Primary DNS Server IP Address

This field specifies the IP address of the primary DNS (Domain Name Service) server.

Secondary DNS Server IP Address

This field specifies the IP address of the secondary DNS server. It is used as a backup to the Primary DNS server address. If the Primary server is unavailable, the machine will contact the Secondary DNS server.

APIPA

When this (default) setting is On the print server will automatically allocate a Link-Local IP address in the range (169.254.1.0 - 169.254.254.255) when the print/fax server cannot obtain an IP address through the BOOT Method you have set (Menu/Set, 5, 1,

1for MFC-3340CN/MFC-5440CNor 4,1,1 for FAX-1940CN/MFC- 5840CN). When this setting is Off the IP address will not change, when the print/fax server cannot obtain an IP address through the BOOT Method you have set

1Press Menu/Set, 5, 1, 9 for MFC-3340CN/MFC-5840CN. (4, 1, 9 for FAX-1940CN/MFC-5440CN)

2Press or to select On or Off.

3Press Menu/Set.

4Press Stop/Exit.
