RJ-45 Pin Specification

When connecting the Compaq ProLiant BL p-class GbE Interconnect Switch to a switch, bridge, or hub, an Ethernet cable is necessary.

Figure B-1 displays the standard RJ-45 receptacle/connector for 10/100 Mb/s and Gigabit over Copper ports. Table B-1 indicates the pin number and wire color assignments for the switch-to-network adapter card connection, and the Ethernet cable for the switch-to-switch, switch-to-hub, or switch-to-bridge connection. Table B-2 provides the same information for the Gigabit over Copper ports.

NOTE: A cable configured for Gigabit over Copper can also be used on a 10/100-Mb/s connection.
