5. If the optical drive is not being replaced after removal:
a. Remove the hard drive and shroud assembly (see Removing the Hard Drive and Shroud Assembly).
a. Disconnect the SATA cable from the system board and remove the cable from the chassis.
b. Replace the hard drive and shroud assembly.
6. Perform the procedure After Working on Your Computer.

Installing an Optical Drive

1. Unpack the drive and prepare it for installation. Check the documentation that accompanied the drive to verify that the drive is configured for your
computer.
2. Perform the procedure Before Working on Your Computer.
3. Remove the hard drive and shroud assembly, if in place (see Removing the Hard Drive and Shroud Assembly).
4. Connect power supply cable P6 and a SATA data cable to the drive. Connect the other end of the SATA cable to the SATA1 or SATA2 connector on the
system board.
5. Gently position the drive into the bay and slide it forward until it clicks into place.
