NICs in each cluster node are configured properly

To install a third NIC into a cluster node, you must transfer the resources from the cluster node where the NIC will be installed to another node in the cluster. To properly identify the nodes and NICs, the following procedure refers to specific cluster nodes and components, as described in Table 9-1.

Be sure to refer to Table 9-1 for cluster node identification while performing this procedure.

To add a third NIC to a cluster node, perform the following steps:

1.Prepare NIC 3 for installation.

2.Select a node in your cluster to become node 2, which you are using to temporarily store cluster resources from node 1.

3.Move all cluster resources from node 1 to node 2.

NOTE: See the Microsoft Cluster Service documentation for information on mov- ing cluster resources from one cluster node to another.

4.Power down node 1.

5.Install NIC 3 in node 1.

6.In node 1, boot to the Windows 2000 Datacenter Server operating system.

7.On the desktop, right-click My Network Places and double-click Make New Connection.

The Make New Connection wizard starts.
