Managing Local Users

This section is intended for sites that use the PowerVault NX3500 system to manage local users. If your site is configured with an external NIS/LDAP database, you can skip this section.

After local users are configured, they can access the cluster even when an external NIS is introduced.

For local users, access to the file system is determined by volumes, shares, and exports.

To allow PowerVault NX3500 to use local user definitions:

1Select System ManagementAuthenticationIdentity Management Database.

2Select Users are not defined in an external user database.

3For CIFS users, select System ManagementProtocolsCIFS Configuration.

4In the CIFS Protocol Configuration page define the Authentication mode to be Authenticate users via local users database.

5To manage the Local Users list, select System ManagementAuthenticationLocal Users.

Adding Local Users

To add local users:

1With the Local Users page displayed, click Add in the Action bar.

The General tab of the Add User page is displayed. Enter the required information.

2Select the Advanced tab for additional and optional fields.

3Click Save Changes to save the new local user information which is displayed in the Local Users list.

NOTE: Click Revert to restore the previously saved properties.
