zChanging the Quick Setup settings

At “SPEAKER SETUP” under “Quick Setup procedure” (page 27), select the configuration to be used, “6.1CH” or “7.1CH”.

xChecking and adjusting the playback level using test tones

Before playing, use test tones to check and adjust the playback level of the different speakers. (Page 33)

• Depending on the 6.1/7.1-channel setting, the surround back channel is also displayed and can be set.

cSetting the delay time (distance setting)

Set the distance from the different speakers at “(6) Setting the speaker distance” (Page 39) under “10 SURROUND PLAYBACK” (page 33).

• Depending on the 6.1/7.1-channel setting, the surround back channel is also displayed and can be set.

vSurround playback in the auto decode mode

When set for 6.1- or 7.1-channel playback, the signals can be decoded and played in the Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES and Dolby Pro Logic IIx modes.

•At “1 Dolby Digital and DTS surround playback” on page 34, Dolby Digital and multi-channel sources are played in 6.1 or 7.1 channels in the Dolby Digital EX or Dolby ProLogic IIx mode.

DTS sources are played in 6.1 or 7.1 channels in the DTS-ES or Neo:6 mode.

•For 2-channel sources: Instead of PLII at “2 channel mode setting” on page 35 - PLIIx surround parameter.

•When Dolby Digital EX or DTS-ES sources are played, “ EX” or “DTS-ES” is displayed and the source is played in 6.1 or 7.1 channels.

•For Dolby Pro Logic IIx decoding, “ PLIIx” is also displayed and the signals are played in 6.1 or 7.1 channels.

•For DTS Neo:6 decoding, “Neo:6” is displayed.

•For playback sources and surround modes, see “Table of Surround Mode Parameters” on pages 40 and 41. The playing mode for the different sources can be selected using the surround parameters. (See below.)

•Dolby Digital EX

For 6.1 channels: Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital + PLL IIx Music

For 7.1 channels: Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital + PLL IIx Cinema, Dolby Digital+PLIIx Music

•DTS

For 6.1/7.1 channels: DTS surround, DTS+NEO:6

•DTS-ES

For 6.1/7.1 channels: none (fixed to DTS discrete or DTS-ES matrix depending on plug)

•Analog, digital (PCM, Dolby Digital, AAC) 2-channel sources

For 6.1/7.1 channels: Auto stereo, PLIIx Cinema, PLIIx Music, PLIIx Game

For analog and PCM 2-channel sources, DTS-NEO:6 Cinema and DTS-NEO:6 Music can also be used.
