Chapter 3: Accessing the Internet

This chapter aims to hel p you access the Internet in a quick and
convenient way. If you need more detailed information for web
configuration, please refer to the next chapter for the advanced
configuration.
Before configuring the ADSL Router, you must decide whether to configure the
ADSL Router as a bridge or as a router. This chapter presents some deploym ent
examples for your reference. Each mode inclu des its general configure procedures.

PPP over ATM (PPPoA)

Numbered IP over ATM (IPoA)

To ensure your PC a ccessing the Intern et successfully, please check the following
first.
A network interface card is installed on your PC.
The ADSL Router is solidly con nected with your computer.
The TCP/IP protocol has b een installed and the IP address setting is to
obtain IP address automatically.
After making sure that all above preparations are read y, you can open the Browser
and type “192.168.1.1” into the URL box and start to make the web configuration for
different conn ection modes.
This chapter is going to introduce the function of each connection mode an d the
basic configuring steps that you have to do. If you do not follow the configuring step s
for using these connection modes, you might get some conne ction problems and
cannot connect to the Internet well.
