7.TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM LIKELY CAUSE SOLUTION

1. With the key	Electronic card blocked due to:		Turn the key to «STOP» and look for the
on «START» the			cause of the problem:
starter motor
does not run	–	flat battery or sulphated battery plates	–	recharge battery (☛ 6.2.5)
	–	fuse blown	–	replace fuse (6.3 A - delayed)
				(☛ 6.4.3)
	–	bad earthing to the engine or the frame	–	check connections of black earth leads
	–	earth connections of the microswitches	–	check connections
		disconnected
	–	badly earthed starter motor	–	check earth connections
	–	you are not ready for starting	–	check that the conditions allowing the
				start are met (☛ 5.2.a)

2. With the key on –	faulty fuel supply
«START» the
starter motor runs
but the engine
does not start
–	faulty ignition

–check the level in the tank (☛ 5.3.3)

–check the wiring of the fuel open com- mand

–check fuel filter

–check that spark plug caps are firmly fitted

–check that the electrodes are clean and have the correct gap

3. The engine	Electronic card blocked due to:		Turn the key to pos. «OFF» and look for
stops			the cause of the problem:
	–	earth connections of the microswitches	–	check connections
		disconnected
	–	flat battery	–	recharge battery (☛ 6.2.5)
	–	badly connected battery (poor contact)	–	check connections (☛ 3.5)

– engine badly earthed – check engine earth connection
