6 Troubleshooting

If you cannot solve the problem with the solutions in this chapter, check the troubleshooting chapter in your Administrator’s Guide to see if you are having network-related problems.

As you use your printer, you may occasionally experience a paper jam or other problem. The first thing you should do is diagnose the problem, following the guidelines in this chapter. Then try the most likely solutions until the problem is fixed.

Your printer provides a number of ways to help you diagnose problems:

To identify the most common problems, check the lights on the printer’s control panel. See page 6-2 for details.

You can also use the Status Monitor 2 utility to identify common problems. For instructions, see page 4-2 (Windows) or page 4-17 (Macintosh).
