Controlling the Printer
There are a two ways to control your printer and change its
settings:
The printer driver (for Microsoft Windows users only)
Control Panel operation (SelecType)
Normally, you should use the printer driv er to control your
printer. The printer driver allows you to easily make the most
common printer settings, in cluding the paper source, pape r size,
and orientation. To access the driver menus, see below.
A few software programs do not allo w y ou to control printer
settings using the printer driver. In these cases, you can use the
printer’s control panel to adjust the pri nter settings. For
information on using the control pane l , see Chapter 2.

Accessing the printer driver

You can access your printer dr iver directly from most Window s-
based applications, or from your Windows operating system, as
explained below. The printer driver s ettings made from many
Windows applications overrid e settings made when the driver is
accessed from the operatin g system, so in most cases yo u should
access the driver from your applicatio n to ensure you get the
results you want.
To access the printer driver from your application software,
click the Print or Page Setup command on the File menu.
You also need to click Setup, Options, Properties, or a
combination of these buttons.
To access the driver from Windows 95, Windows 98 or
Windows NT 4.0, click Start, point to Settings, and click
Printers. Next, right-click the icon of your EPSON printer and
click Properties (in Windows 95/98) or Document Defaults
(in Windows NT 4.0).
