CommandReference
Causes all the text that fol lows the command on the same line to be printed as double-
wide characters. Double-wide ch aractersare cancel ed by a line feed (CR or LF) or the
DC4 command.
Double wide is a character attribute and is available on a character-by-character basis.
Double-wide text c an be canceled at any poin t on the line. Double-wi de text is
automatically cancel ed at the end of the line. Therefore, subsequent l ines will not be
printed as double-wi de text unless the SO command is re-issued at the begin ning of
each line.

Description
Provided for LabelWriter raster compati bility.
SYN is a synchronizatio n character used to encode bitmap prin t data. The number of
bytes in each string is controlled by t he ESC D command. The starting p osition (left
margin) is controlled b y the ESC B command. The control electronics i n the printer do
not check the vali dity of the bitmap data. Therefore, it is the responsib ility of the host
software to send the correct number of data byt esfor the w idth of the print head in u se
by the printer.
The print head forms the image by heatin g a row of resistive el ements that black en the
thermally sensitive l abel material. The resistive elemen ts are 0.125 millimeters square
(0.00492 inches) and are spaced at eight dots per millimeter (203.2 dots per inch) apart.
The print head on the Label Writer SE450 printer contains 448 ele ments.W hen a line is
to be printed, the cont rol electronics in the printer load t he desired data into a serial
shift register (the print h ead). The serial shift register has one location for ea ch print
element. A “1” in any given locat ion causes the corresponding dot to be printe d; a “0”
leaves the dot un-printed .Th e most significant bit (bit 7) prints at th e left margin.
There is no command for clearing the shift register, therefore, the entire register must be
loaded for each print line in order to flush out the old d ata. To reset the LabelWriter
printer after a synchronizat ion error or to recover from an u nknown state, t he host
computer should send at least fifty-seven (57) ESC ch aracters, foll owed by an A, to
request the printer to return the statu s byte. A minimum of 57 ESC characters are
