5.4Configuring the server

This section contains information about configuring the server and installing the operating system.

5.4.1Configuring onboard SAS controller

The server has an onboard SAS controller with “Integrated Mirroring Enhanced” functionality. You can configure the Onboard-SAS-Controller either before or during ServerStart. Using ServerStart is recommended.

IA separate utility is available to the controller for IME configuration. For further information, refer to the “Integrated Mirroring User’s Guide” on the ServerBooks DVD (select “Controllers” from the menu).

IDescriptions of operating systems not covered in the RAID controller manual are provided in the appropriate readme files on the driver CDs.

5.4.2Configuration with ServerStart

With the ServerStart Disc 1 provided, you can configure the server and install the operating system in a convenient manner. Menu-guided configuration includes server configuration with the SCU and RAID controller configuration with ServerViewRAID.
