5.3Switching the server on and off

VCAUTION!

If nothing appears on the screen but flickering stripes after switching on the server, switch the server off immediately (see section “Flickering stripes on monitor screen” on page 57).

The On/Off button does not disconnect the server from the mains. To disconnect from the mains completely, remove the power plug(s).

Switching the server on

The power-on indicator (item 5 in figure 9 on page 44) lights orange.

Starting up for the first time:

ÊPress the On/Off button (item 11 in figure 9 on page 44).

The power-on indicator lights up green (item 5 in figure 9 on page 44).

ÊInsert ServerStart disc 1 in the CD/DVD drive.

ÊFollow the on-screen instructions (see also section “Configuring onboard SAS controller” on page 51 or section “Configuration without Server- Start” on page 52).

System already installed:

ÊPress the On/Off button (item 11 in figure 9 on page 44).

The power-on indicator lights up green (item 5 in figure 9 on page 44).

The server is switched on, performs a system test and boots the operating system.
