CARE AND CLEANING

CARE AND CLEANING

Proper care and cleaning are important so your range will give you efficient and satisfactory service. Follow these directions carefully in caring for your range to assure safe and proper maintenance.

Cooktop Surface

To avoid damaging the porcelain enamel surface of the cooktop and to prevent it from becoming dull, clean up spills right away. Foods with a lot of acid (tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit juices, etc.) or foods with a high sugar content could cause a dull spot if allowed to set. When the surface has cooled, wash and rinse. For other spills, such as fat smatterings, etc., wash with soap and water once the surface has cooled. Then rinse and polish with a dry cloth.

Do not store flammable materials in an oven or near the cooktop. Do not store or use combustible materials, gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

Lift-Up Cooktop (on some models)

Some models have a cooktop that can be lifted up for easier cleaning. To make cleaning easier, the entire cooktop may be lifted up and supported in the up position. Be sure all surface units are turned off before raising the cooktop. There are two side supports that lock into position when the cooktop is lifted up. The Calrod” units do not need to be removed before lifting. After cleaning under the cooktop with hot, mild soapy water and a clean cloth, lower the cooktop. Be careful not to pinch your fingers. To lower the cooktop, push the rods back and gently lower the cooktop until it rests in place.

Calrod” Surface Units

Spatters and spills burn away when the coils are heated. At the end of a meal, remove all pans from the Calrod” unit and heat the soiled unit at HI. Let the soil burn off about one minute and switch the unit to OFF. Avoid getting cleaning materials on the coils. Wipe off any cleaning materials with a damp paper towel before heating the Calrod” unit.

CAUTION
