Ensure that the backup battery is in good condition before you remove the main battery. If the backup battery is low or you are not sure, connect to ac power before you remove the main battery.

To replace the main battery

1.Turn off your HP Jornada and disconnect the serial sync cable if it is attached, or remove it from the docking cradle (optional on the HP Jornada 710).

2.Slide the battery release tab on the bottom of the HP Jornada and hold it in the open position while pulling the battery pack away from the device.

3.Insert the replacement battery pack and push firmly until it clicks into place.

Backup battery

The coin-sized, lithium ion backup battery does not provide enough power to operate your HP Jornada. It is intended only to protect your data until the main battery is recharged (up to a week if the coin-cell battery is in good condition). When a low battery warning message is displayed, immediately charge the main battery to avoid data loss.

Ensure that the main battery is charged before you remove the backup battery. If the main battery is low or you are not sure, connect to ac power before you remove the backup battery.

To replace the backup battery

1.Turn the Jornada upside-down and open the CompactFlash door.

2.Pivot the backup battery cover out of the way to completely expose the backup battery.

The backup battery is under some spring tension. As you attempt to remove it, cover the battery with your fingers to prevent it from flying out of the compartment.
