Caring for Drives
Drives are fragile computer components that must be handled with care.
ÄCAUTION: To prevent damage to the computer and drive and loss of information, ensure that you are discharged of static electricity before handling a drive. Refer to the Maintenance, Shipping, and Travel guide on this CD for more cautions on handling drives. Refer to the Regulatory and Safety Notices guide on this CD for more information on preventing electrostatic discharge damage.
Removing a Hard Drive
ÄCAUTION: To prevent damage to the computer and hard drive and loss of information, shut down the computer before removing the hard drive from the hard drive compartment. Do not remove the hard drive while the computer is on, in Standby or in Hibernation. If you are not sure whether the computer is in Hibernation, turn the computer on, then shut it down. If the computer is running a retail version of a Windows operating system, shut down the computer before removing any drive.
To remove the hard drive:
1.Save your work.
2.Shut down the computer and close the display.
3.Remove the AC Adapter and all battery packs.
