This indicates an obstruction in the paper path. Turn off the power and look for obstructions. First, look in the area of the paper tray. Then open the rear access door (see diagram above) and remove any obstruction. Replace the rear access door and latch it securely. Then remove the power plug from the back of the HP OfficeJet, wait four seconds, and plug it back in.

This indicates an obstruction to the print carriage. Turn off the power, open the top cover, and look for something preventing the ink cartridges from moving back and forth.

If the problem persists, close the top cover, turn on power, and open the top cover again so the print cartridges move to the center. Remove and reinstall both print cartridges. Close the top cover. Then remove the power plug from the back of the HP OfficeJet, wait four seconds, and plug it back in. If the front panel directs you to, realign the print cartridges by pressing Enter and following the instructions on the sheet that prints out.

Note: For any error code not listed above, remove the power plug from the back of the HP OfficeJet, wait four seconds, and plug it back in. If the error code persists, contact Hewlett-Packard for assistance.
