5.5. Replacing a Failed PSU Module

5.5.1 Notes on PSU Module Maintenance

Two (1+1) redundant PSU modules: The subsystem comes with two fully redundant, hot-swappable PSU modules. These modules are located at the rear section of the subsystem.

PSU canister: Each PSU module is housed in a robust steel canister, with the power supply converter unit in the front and two serial-aligned cooling fans in the rear section. When the PSU is removed from the chassis, the cooling module is also removed.

Printed text on PSU handle: Before you insert a new PSU, make sure that the printed text on the PSU handle matches the printed text on a partner PSU. Double-check to avoid using a PSU of a different EonStor series.

Immediate replacement: When a PSU fails, it should ideally be replaced immediately. Do not remove the PSU module unless a replacement is readily available. Removing a PSU without a replacement will cause severe disruptions to the internal airflow and the subsystem will overheat, possibly causing irreparable damage to some of the subsystem components.

WARNING!

Although the subsystem can operate using a single PSU module, it is not advisable to run the EonStor subsystem with a single PSU module for an extended period of time.
