Introduction

Refer to the SPI610 Reference Manual for JTAG emulation syst em installation and operation for

both the Tornado and CTOOLS environment. Optionally, evaluation board serial port

communications can be used for this communication l ink (se e Section1.3.3, “TORNADO Test and

Debug Tools” on page1-4).

A brief description of the contents of this manual follows.

Chapter 1, “Intro duction”

Introduces the IQ80960RM and IQ80960RN Evaluation Board features. This

chapter also describes Intel’s CTOOLS* and WindRiver Systems IxWorks*

software develop ment tools, and de fines notational-c onventions and rel ated

documentation.

Chapter 2, “Getting Starte d”

Provides step-by-s tep i ns tru ct io ns for in stal li ng the IQ8 09 60 RM or I Q80 96 0RN

platform in a host system and download ing and executing an application

program. This chapter als o describes Intel’s software development tools, the

MON960 Debug Monitor, IxWORKS, software installation, an d hardware

configuration.

Reference”

Describes the locations of connectors, switches and LEDs on the IQ80 960RM

and IQ80960RN plat forms. Header pino uts and register descriptions are a lso

provided in this chapt er.

Chapter 4, “i960® RM/RN

I/O Processor Overview” Presents an overview of the capabilities of the i960 RM/RN I/O processor and

includes the CPU m emory map.

Chapter 5, “MON96 0

Support for IQ8096 0RM/RN” Describes a number of features added to MON960 t o support applicat ion
