Disc Menu-Driven Playback (Only for VCD)

The Playback Control function (PBC) allows you to operate
the VCD using disc menus.
When you start playing a VCD with PBC function, a disc
menu will automatically appear on the TV screen.
• A menu may be a list of items, divided screens, or some
moving pictures. (See “PBC operation concept” on the right
column.)
Showing the On-Screen Bar
You can show the following information on the TV screen
while a disc is loaded.
On the remote control ONLY:
To show the disc information, press
ON SCREEN.
• Each time you press the button, the following on-
screen bar appears and disappears alternately.
VCD/CD Playback
For basic disc operations such as inserting discs, starting
playback, and moving to another tracks, see “Basic Disc
Operations” on pages 15 and 16.
*Appears only when a VCD is loaded.

When a menu appears, select a desired item on
the disc menu.
• When a list of items is displayed on the screen, press the
number buttons to select an item. (To use the number buttons,
see “
To go to another chapter or track directly using the number
buttons
” on page 16.
• When “3” or “SELECT” is displayed on the TV screen,
press DVD 6 to start playback.
• When operating a disc using the disc menu, refer also to the
instructions supplied with the disc.
To go to the next menu
Press NEXT.
To return to the previous menu
Press PREV. or RETURN.
To cancel the PBC playback
You can cancel the menu-driven operations (PBC function):
1Press 7 to stop playback.
2Press the number buttons to select a track.
Normal playback starts from the selected track.
• You can also turn on and off the PBC function by
pressing MENU/PBC on the remote control. Each time
you press the button, the PBC function turns on and off.
