Setting the FlashWhen you take pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in heavy shadows, your
pictures need flash. The flash has an effective ra nge of 1.6 to 10.5 ft
(0.5 to 3.2 m).
When taking Burst pictures (page 20), the built -in flash is automatically turned
off.
1 Slide the flash pop-up button to open the
flash unit.
2Press the button repeatedly to scro ll
through the flash options.
The following icons appea r in the Status
Display:
AUTO (no icon)—flash fires
automatically when need ed.
Fill—flash fires every time you take a
picture, regardless of t he lighting
conditions.
Red-Eye—flash fires once so the
subject’s eyes become ac customed to
the flash, then fires again whe n the
picture is taken. Ideal for pictures of
people.
Off—flash does not fire. Close the
flash unit to turn flash off.
