Using an External Flash Unit
You can use an external flas h unit when you want addit ional or specialized
lighting. You can use the came ra’s built-in flash as well to pro vide extra fill
flash. NOTE: Use either the Manual (page17) or Aperture Priority
(page19) shooting modes when using an external flash unit.
Automatic shooting (P on the Mode Dial)is not avail able with an
external flash unit.
When you open the flas h unit again, the camera remembers and restores your
last flash setting.
When you are shooting in low-light conditions with t he flash turned off, the
camera uses slow shutter speeds. Take care to avoid camera shake. Use a
tripod or place the camer a on a steady surface.
Plug your external flash unit cable into the
external flash connector on t h e camera.
The connector accepts all standard
external flash cables.
We recommend that you ap ply the "Flash"
