Using the Optical Zoom
With optical zoom, you ca n zoom out with Wide Angle (28 mm), which
captures more of the surrounding ar ea in your picture, or zoom in with
Telephoto (84 mm), which brings the subject three times closer.
Using the Digital Zoom
Digital zoom provides t wo times magnification bey ond the optical zoom
(above). You may notice a dec rease in image quality when using digital zoom.

1 Set the camera to one of the capture
modes. See page14.
2Toggle the Zoom button toward T for
Telephoto, or W for Wide Angle.
3Take the picture.
1 Press the Display button to activate Preview.
Use the LCD display to frame your s ubject.
2Move the Zoom button to its farthest T
Telephoto position.
3Release the Zoom button, the n i mme di at ely
move it again to its farthes t T position.
The image is center-cropped, then
magnified. The LCD disp lays the Zoom
magnification level as it changes.
If your digital zoom option is set to
Continuous, step 3 is unnecessary. See
page 54 for setting digital zoo m options.
