–Iftheexternalmonitorsupportsalowerresolutionthanthecomputerdisplay,viewoutputonthe
externalmonitoronly.(Ifyouviewoutputontheboththecomputerdisplayandtheexternal
monitor,theexternalmonitorscreenwillbeblankordistort ed.)
•Problem:Youcannotsetahigherresolutionthanthepresentoneonyourexternalmonitor.
Solution:
–Ensurethatmonitorinformationiscorrect.Dothefollowing:
1.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScr eenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutt on.
2.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
3.ClickAdvancedSettings.
4.ClicktheAdaptertab.
5.Ensur ethatthecorrectdevicedrivernameisshownintheadapterinformationwindow.
Note:Thedevicedrivernamedependsonthevideochipthathasbeeninstalledonyourcomputer.
6.ClickOK.
Iftheinformationisincorrect,reinstallthedevicedriver.
–Checkthemonitortypeand,ifnecessary,updatethedriverbydoingthefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,andthenconnectthemonitortoan
electricaloutlet.
2.T urnontheexternalmonitorandthecomputer.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScr eenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutt on.
4.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
5.ClickAdvancedSettings.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationwindowtoensurethatthemonitortypeis
correct.Ifitis,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwisedothefollowing.
7.Ifmorethanonemonitortypeisdisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
8.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
9.ClicktheDrivertab.
10.ClickUpdateDriver.
11.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickL etmepickfromalistof
devicedriversonmycomputer.
12.CleartheShowcompatiblehardwarecheckbox.
13.SelectManufacturerandModelforyourmonitor .
14.Aft erupdatingthedriver,clickClose.
15.SetResolution.
