WakeonLAN
WhentheWakeonLANfeatureisenabledonacomputerthatisconnectedtoaLAN,anetworkadministrator
canstartthecomputerremotelyfromamanagementconsole,usingremotenetwork-managementsoftwar e.
Whenyourcomputerisnotunderthenetworkadministrator'ssystemmanagement,youcandisableWake
onLAN.
ToenableordisableWakeonLAN,dothefollowing:
1.S tartThinkPadSetup.
2.SelectCong.TheCongsubmenuisdisplayed.
3.SelectNetwork.TheNetworkitemsubmenuisdisplayed.
4.F orWakeOnLAN,selectoneofthefollowing:ACOnly,ACandBattery,orDisabled.
5.P ressF10tosavechangesandexit.
NetworkBootsequence
Whenyourcomputeristurnedonremotely,thesystemwilltrytobootfromthedevicethatisspeciedinthe
NetworkBootsetting,andthenfollowthebootorderlistontheBootmenu.
Todeneasequence,dothefollowing:
1.OntheThinkPadSetupprogrammenu,selectStartup.Thesubmenuisdisplayed.
2.SelectNetworkBootandpresstheEnterkey .Thebootdevicelistisdisplayed.
3.Selectabootdevicefromthelisttomakeitasthetopbootpriority.
4.P ressF10tosavechangesandexit.
Note:Ifyouwanttoinitializethesettingtoreturntothedefaultstartupsequence,pressF9.Thedefault
settingsareautomaticallyreloaded.
Flashupdate
Yournetworkadministratorcanremotelyupdatethesystemprogramsonyourcomputerfromamanagement
console.Thefollowingrequirementsmustbemet:
•YourcomputermustbestartedovertheLAN.
•YourcomputermustbeengagedinaPrebooteXecutionEnvironment.
•Network-managementsoftwaremustbeinstalledontheremoteadministrator'scomputer.
